Resolve your Conflicts on Content ID with the YouTube Conflict Management

Our brand-new YouTube Conflict Management tool gives you a clear overview of any music assets in your catalog that are in conflict with another party. Ideally, your list should be empty—which means everything is running smoothly! 🎉 But it’s always a good idea to check in from time to time to catch and resolve any new conflicts before they impact your revenue. 💡✅

What are YouTube Conflicts?

If you use YouTube Content ID, YouTube ensures your songs aren’t used without your knowledge and automatically claims any videos using them. If a claimed video is eligible, you can even monetize it—turning plays into potential payouts. In a previous update, we rolled out the YouTube Claim Management, giving you full visibility over every video claim your music has generated on YouTube.
However, a conflict occurs when another provider using Content ID uploads the same song you’ve uploaded with us, or a very similar version or remix. If the tracks sound alike, YouTube will group them under the same asset, potentially causing a conflict if the license rights overlap in the same countries for both versions.

What does a conflict mean for my tracks?

If you spot an entry in the list, it means a rights conflict has occurred between you and other distributors or rights owners for one of your songs in YouTube Content ID. While the conflict remains unresolved, YouTube will withhold any revenue generated from video claims tied to this track. Depending on the number of claims and daily views, this could be a significant amount of revenue—revenue that can only reach the rightful copyright holder once the conflict is resolved. 🤝💰

How do I resolve my conflicts?

With the YouTube Conflict Management you can easily view your conflicts via the MES. Find the new tool by going to the “Extras” tab and click on “YouTube Conflict Management” to open it. A new window will open, and as mentioned earlier, if no items appear in the list, it means there are no conflicts, so no action is needed. However, if you see any entries, you can take the necessary steps to resolve them.

In the list you can view key details of your assets on YouTube, including daily views, ISRCs, title, artist name, the third party involved in the conflict, and the territories where these conflicts are occurring.
Then there’s the “Action” column, where you choose how to handle the conflict. You essentially have two options:

1. Remove your rights to this asset
2. Claim your rights to this asset

If you see that there’s a song from your catalog in the list that shouldn’t be on YouTube Content ID, you can go ahead and select “Remove” for the asset.

For this it’s also important to understand Content ID’s specific rules, which we and other distributors must follow. In short, a song cannot be on Content ID if

  • it’s a cover song.
  • it’s content licensed non-exclusively from a third party.
  • it contains non-exclusive or licensed samples, production loops, sound banks, etc.
  • it was created under a Creative Commons license or is in the public domain, meaning it has no copyright.

You can view the full list and get more info on this topic here.

If you’re absolutely certain you own the exclusive rights to your song but notice a conflict with another party, you can select “Claim” ✅.

When selecting this, you’ll need to provide a brief explanation of the situation—any details you share can help us resolve the conflict faster. You can even attach legal rights documents to support your claim.
Once you’ve entered a reason, we’ll receive an email with your explanation and any attached documents. From there, we’ll contact the other party and work on resolving the conflict for you. 🤝

Don’t forget! Click the save icon 💾 at the top left to finalize your actions. You can track the progress of the conflict in the “Status” column.

New: Music in WhatsApp Status

Meta Launches WhatsApp Status with Music – What It Means for Artists 🎵

Since March 10, 2025, Meta has been rolling out Music in WhatsApp Status, allowing users to add music to their status updates. This integration brings your music directly to WhatsApp, enabling users to enhance their photos and videos with 15-second music clips, similar to Instagram’s Stories.

Key Takeaways for Artists:
  • Increased exposure: Users can share your music as part of their WhatsApp statuses, boosting visibility.
  • 📢 Better engagement: Fans can interact with your music in a fresh, creative way through WhatsApp.
  • 💰 Potential monetization: This opens new opportunities for music streaming and fan interaction.
How It Works with Rebeat Digital

Every music delivery made to Facebook through Rebeat Digital will also make your tracks available on WhatsApp Music status updates. 🎶

This new feature is still rolling out to all devices in all available countries, so keep an eye on future updates. For more details, check with Rebeat Digital to ensure your music is available on WhatsApp!

TikTok Now Paying per View

TikTok Changes Payment Structure – What It Means for your Music💸

Since November 2024, TikTok changed its payment structure. Instead of paying based on Video Creations with your music, TikTok will now pay creators based on Views of videos with your music.

This shift will also be shown in the Analytics section within the MES, so expect to see updated numbers. You can already view the revenue generated from views instead of creations in the Preview section of the MES Analytics. The final accounting of your revenue generated on TikTok in November, December, and January will be processed at the end of May due to the standard delay in our accounting run.

Keep an eye on these changes, as they may affect your earnings and performance insights!
