Founded in December 2023 and publicly launched in April 2024, it has already attracted millions of users and a large global creator base.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default\">Udio is transitioning from its old \u201clegacy\u201d model\u2014where music could be freely generated, downloaded, and shared across all DSPs\u2014to a fully licensed system based on contractually regulated rights.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default\">In the coming months, Udio will therefore retrain its model using\u00a0<strong>licensed repertoire<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default\">The core product (planned for 2026) will be a\u00a0<strong>paid subscription model<\/strong>\u00a0within a so-called \u201c<strong>walled garden<\/strong>\u201d system, meaning that content and outputs remain accessible only within Udio\u2019s platform and\u00a0<strong>c<\/strong><strong>annot be freely downloaded or distributed elsewhere<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default\">The launch date of the new service has not been announced yet, but it is expected to take place later this year. Licensed, Closed Product Approach<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"default\">The core product is a subscription model.<\/li>\n<li class=\"default\">\u201cWalled Garden\u201d: AI outputs cannot be freely downloaded or distributed to DSPs<\/li>\n<li class=\"default\">If Udio intends to launch additional products in the future, a separate agreement would be required, and you would of course be informed in advance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p id=\"isPasted\" class=\"default\"><strong>2. Rights &amp; Grant of Rights<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>This is strictly a sound recording agreement.<\/li>\n<li>Publishing is handled separately by Udio.<\/li>\n<li>Delivering music for AI training does not grant permission to use an artist\u2019s voice or identity.<\/li>\n<li>Artists retain full control over the use of their voice.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p id=\"isPasted\" class=\"default\"><strong>3. Clear Guardrails &amp; Technical Protection Measures<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"default\">Udio is contractually obligated to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Block artist names and track titles in prompts (unless authorized).<\/li>\n<li>Prohibit the use of AI-generated tracks to train future models.<\/li>\n<li>Use Audible Magic (fingerprint system) to detect and prevent copyright infringement.<\/li>\n<li>Fingerprint all AI outputs to monitor and prevent unauthorized distribution.<\/li>\n<li>Provide the necessary data for track-level royalty reporting and verification.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"default\">Additionally:<\/p>\n<p class=\"default\">In the event of a takedown (rights change or valid claim), Udio will remove the relevant content and retrain the models at the next available opportunity, and in any event within 12 months.<\/p>\n<p id=\"isPasted\" class=\"default\"><strong>4. Compensation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"default\">Compensation is usage-based.<\/p>\n<p>You benefit when your music:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>is used for AI training,<\/li>\n<li>is referenced in generation processes,<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0or is consumed within the system.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"default\">This is not a flat fee arrangement, but a model that reflects actual usage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default\"><strong>5.
