What are YouTube Conflicts?<\/h5>\n

If you use YouTube Content ID<\/strong>, YouTube ensures your songs aren\u2019t used without your knowledge and automatically claims any videos using them. If a claimed video is eligible, you can even monetize it<\/strong>\u2014turning plays into potential payouts. In a previous update<\/a>, we rolled out the YouTube Claim Management<\/strong>, giving you full visibility over every video claim your music has generated on YouTube.
\nHowever, a conflict occurs when another provider using Content ID<\/strong> uploads the same song<\/strong> you’ve uploaded with us, or a very similar version or remix<\/strong>. If the tracks sound alike, YouTube will group them under the same asset, potentially causing a conflict if the license rights overlap in the same countries for both versions.<\/p>\n

What does a conflict mean for my tracks?<\/h5>\n

If you spot an entry in the list, it means a rights conflict<\/strong> has occurred between you and other distributors or rights owners for one of your songs in YouTube Content ID<\/strong>. While the conflict remains unresolved, YouTube will withhold any revenue generated from video claims<\/strong> tied to this track. Depending on the number of claims and daily views, this could be a significant amount of revenue\u2014revenue that can only reach the rightful copyright holder once the conflict is resolved. \ud83e\udd1d\ud83d\udcb0<\/strong><\/p>\n

How do I resolve my conflicts?<\/h5>\n

With the YouTube Conflict Management you can easily view your conflicts via the MES. Find the new tool by going to the “Extras<\/strong>” tab and click on “YouTube Conflict Management<\/strong>” to open it. A new window will open, and as mentioned earlier, if no items<\/strong> appear in the list, it means there are no conflicts<\/strong>, so no action is needed. However, if you see any entries, you can take the necessary steps to resolve them.<\/p>\n

In the list you can view key details of your assets on YouTube, including daily views<\/strong>, ISRCs<\/strong>, title<\/strong>, artist name<\/strong>, the third party<\/strong> involved in the conflict, and the territories <\/strong>where these conflicts are occurring.
\nThen there’s the “Action” column<\/strong>, where you choose how to handle the conflict. You essentially have two options:<\/p>\n

1. Remove your rights to this asset\u00a0<\/strong>
\n2. Claim your rights to this asset\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

If you see that there’s a song from your catalog in the list that shouldn’t be on YouTube Content ID, you can go ahead and select “Remove” for the asset.<\/p>\n

For this it’s also important to understand Content ID’s specific rules<\/strong>, which we and other distributors must follow. In short, a song cannot be on Content ID if<\/p>\n
